The most crucial game of the last round was a loss ofHoiho in Christchurch on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by Pouakai 121-83 . Mainland P. dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Hoiho 's 26 and made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Mainland P. forced 20 S. Hoiho turnovers and outrebounded them 43-25 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mainland P. looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mainland P. made 7 blocks. Australian guard Marena Whittle (180-1994, college: NDSU, agency: LBM Management) fired 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. International guard McKenna Dale (183-1999, college: Virginia) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of her nine free throws !!!). Five Pouakai players scored in double figures. Australian guard Claire Jacobs (183-2001, college: Nevada) produced 27 points and Lillian Dart added 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
